SAMSUNG TO UNVEIL GALAXY Z FOLD 8 WIDE AT JULY EVENT

Samsung will present a new Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide at Galaxy Unpacked on 22 July, according to reports circulating ahead of the event. The keynote will take place at 2pm BST, with pre-orders opening immediately afterwards. The device is expected to adopt a wider, more book-like design that unfolds into a tablet-shaped form, replacing the current Galaxy Z Fold 7's tall, narrow silhouette. According to reports from technology insiders, the Z Fold 8 Wide will cost €1,999, matching the price of its predecessor and making it the cheapest of Samsung's new folding models.

The redesigned foldable will feature a wider aspect ratio when unfolded, similar in proportions to an iPad Mini. Marketing images obtained by technology publications show the Z Fold 8 displayed alongside a Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra model. The device will reportedly be offered in an online-exclusive pistachio green colour. Reports also indicate the display crease will be less visible than on previous generations, though Samsung has not officially confirmed these specifications ahead of the presentation.

The Z Fold 8 Wide enters a market where other manufacturers are developing similar form factors. According to reports, Apple's first folding device, provisionally called the iPhone Ultra, is predicted to launch in September with a comparable wide-ratio design. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 are reported to carry a €100 price increase over their predecessors, positioning the wide-ratio model as the most affordable option within Samsung's folding phone range.
