JORDON IBE PLEADS GUILTY TO ASSAULT ON EX-GIRLFRIEND
Jordon Ibe, a former footballer who played for Liverpool and Bournemouth, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Croydon Magistrates' Court. The offence occurred on 14 December outside the home of his ex-partner Amie Mayson in Lambeth, south London. During an argument, Ibe pulled a braid from Ms Mayson's head, leaving her with a bald patch. He had initially denied the charge in March before changing his plea to guilty.
The court heard that Ms Mayson had confronted Ibe and demanded repayment of money she said he owed her. Ibe arrived with a bag containing drinks, snacks and flowers; when Ms Mayson threw muffins on the floor and called him a "druggy", he grabbed her by her hair. In a victim impact statement, Ms Mayson said the assault deeply affected her confidence, self-esteem and self-worth, and that looking in the mirror remained distressing. She described the injury as a constant reminder of the incident that often left her emotionally drained.
Ibe, 30, made 58 appearances for Liverpool after joining in 2012 and 92 appearances for AFC Bournemouth between 2016 and 2020. He subsequently played non-league football before joining Lokomotiv Sofia in the Bulgarian First League in November 2025. District Judge Polly Gledhill ordered a pre-sentence report and bailed Ibe with conditions not to contact Ms Mayson or visit her address. Sentencing is scheduled for 4 September.
