JOE FLACCO SAYS SUPER BOWL TROPHY HOLDS LITTLE VALUE TO HIM

Joe Flacco has stated that his Super Bowl MVP trophy and championship ring matter far less to him than the memories associated with winning. Speaking on Netflix's Quarterback documentary series, Flacco showed his dusty Super Bowl MVP trophy to the camera and said it was "tarnished as heck". He noted that whilst he initially believed he would care greatly about such physical awards, he ultimately does not, and suggested his children's interest in viewing his ring represents its primary purpose.

Flacco earned Super Bowl MVP honours after leading the Baltimore Ravens to victory in Super Bowl XLVII against the San Francisco 49ers. He threw for 287 yards and three touchdown passes, all in the first half, giving Baltimore a 21-6 lead. The achievement came four years after Flacco's first attempt to lead the Ravens to a Super Bowl championship ended in failure. During the postseason run, Flacco threw 11 touchdown passes without an interception, including two passes for 282 yards in a Wild Card victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

Flacco's demeanour throughout the Super Bowl win reflected his characteristic composure. Wide receiver Anquan Boldin observed in 2013 that Flacco remained unchanged by the magnitude of the championship game, describing him as consistent in his approach. According to one report, Flacco tied Joe Montana and Kurt Warner for the most touchdown passes in a single postseason, whilst his 117.2 passer rating during the Super Bowl-winning postseason tied Steve Young for the third-highest mark ever recorded by a quarterback in that context.
