LEEDS UNITED AGREES £34.1M FEE FOR SASSUOLO DEFENDER MUHAREMOVIC
Leeds United have agreed a £34.1m transfer fee with Sassuolo for centre-back Tarik Muharemovic, according to the club. The 23-year-old Bosnia-Herzegovina international has not yet agreed personal terms or completed a medical examination. Other Premier League clubs have expressed interest in signing the defender, though Leeds would become his destination if he accepts the move.
Muharemovic would become manager Daniel Farke's second summer signing, following attacker Harry Wilson's arrival from Fulham on a free transfer. He would replace centre-back Pascal Struijk, who moved to Brighton for £20m in June. The defender began his career with Austrian club Wolfsberger in 2021, before joining Italian giants Juventus, where he made no first-team appearances, and subsequently moving to Sassuolo on loan before a permanent transfer in 2025. Juventus retain a clause entitling them to 50% of the fee paid by Leeds, according to reports.
Muharemovic represented Bosnia-Herzegovina at the World Cup, making three appearances including in a last-32 defeat by the United States. He was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The transfer remains subject to the defender's agreement to personal terms and successful completion of a medical assessment.
