ARMED POLICE STOP BMW AND ARREST FOUR MEN WITH WEAPONS

Armed police stopped a BMW on the Black Country route in Wolverhampton in September and removed four men from the vehicle following a search, according to footage released by West Midlands Police on Monday. Officers smashed through the car's windows and pulled the occupants onto the ground. The vehicle contained a handgun, swords and other weapons. The car had been linked to an attack that occurred three days earlier, in which a construction worker was struck with metal poles, sustaining broken legs and a broken left arm.

Harpandeep Singh, aged 23 of Hackney in London, Harshehajdeep Singh, aged 21 of Ealing in London, Zorawar Singh, aged 31 of no fixed address, and Gurwinder Singh, aged 25 of Ealing in London, were detained following the stop. The four men were subsequently prosecuted. A combined prison sentence of 24 years and 21 months was imposed upon them.

The bodycam footage, which captures officers directing the men to the ground whilst removing weapons from the vehicle, was released as part of West Midlands Police's account of the operation. The force's decision to publish the footage came approximately one year after the September incident and the men's conviction.
