MAN ON TRIAL ACCUSED OF KILLING AMPUTEE WITH PROSTHETIC LEG

TUE 14 JUL 2026 CRIME

Scott Silkstone, 51, is on trial at Leeds Crown Court accused of murdering Dwayne Tuohey, 55, an amputee found with severe injuries in the early hours of New Year's Day. Silkstone, of no fixed abode, denies the charge. Prosecutors allege that Silkstone beat Tuohey with his own prosthetic leg at Tuohey's flat in Gargrave Court, Burmantofts, West Yorkshire, before dragging him into a lift and leaving him half-naked in the street. The court was told that Silkstone subsequently purchased a milkshake from a nearby shop. When stopped several streets away shortly afterwards, Silkstone was allegedly covered in blood and told officers: "I'll have more injuries than him."

Prosecutor Michelle Colborne KC presented CCTV footage to jurors on Tuesday showing Silkstone's movements before and after the alleged attack. Footage captured at 4.01am showed Silkstone entering a lift at Shakespeare Grange with no blood on his hands. At 4.20am, he was recorded heading back towards Gargrave Court. The prosecution alleges he returned to the deceased's flat in a heightened state of agitation. At 6.30am, CCTV showed him leaving Gargrave Court with blood visible on his hands and face as he walked to Shakespeare Grange. The court heard that someone dialled a number from Tuohey's phone whilst Silkstone was at Shakespeare Grange, the same number that had been called five times earlier that morning. Silkstone returned to Gargrave Court shortly before 7am, according to the prosecution's case.
