SUNI LEE ANNOUNCES RETURN TO GYMNASTICS FOR LOS ANGELES OLYMPICS
Suni Lee has announced her return to competitive gymnastics, with the intention of competing at the Los Angeles Olympics. The announcement came via an Instagram video posted on Tuesday, in which Lee wrote "I'm back". Lee won team gold and individual bronze medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the all-around and uneven bars events. The comeback positions her to make a third Olympic appearance.
Lee, a six-time Olympic medalist, won the all-around title at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She had been on a break from competition following the Paris Games. Her decision to return makes her the latest member of the 2024 United States Olympic team to declare intentions for Los Angeles, joining other athletes including Jade Carey who have also announced their return to competition.
The Los Angeles Olympics are scheduled for 2028, approximately two years from Lee's announcement. No further details regarding her training schedule or specific events have been confirmed. Lee's return adds to an emerging pattern of successful 2024 Olympians committing to another Games cycle.
