NASA ASTRONAUT AND TWO COSMONAUTS LAUNCH TO ISS FROM KAZAKHSTAN

NASA astronaut Anil Menon and cosmonauts Pyotr Dubrov and Anna Kikina launched aboard a Soyuz spacecraft on Tuesday from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The launch marked Menon's first spaceflight, whilst Dubrov and Kikina undertook their second missions to space. The crew will travel to the International Space Station, where they will conduct operations for approximately eight months. According to NASA, the three are scheduled to return to Earth in April 2027.

The Soyuz spacecraft remains the primary vehicle for transporting crews to and from the International Space Station. Baikonur Cosmodrome, located in Kazakhstan, continues to serve as the launch site for these missions. The International Space Station operates as a collaborative orbital laboratory maintained by multiple space agencies, including NASA and Russia's space programme.

The arrival of Menon, Dubrov and Kikina will expand the crew complement aboard the station. Their mission contributes to ongoing scientific research and maintenance operations conducted in low Earth orbit. The crew's eight-month assignment represents a standard duration for ISS expedition rotations.
