BBC PUBLISHES ANNUAL SALARIES OF HIGHEST-PAID PRESENTERS
The BBC has released its annual salary list for its highest-paid on-air talent. Scott Mills, the former Radio 2 breakfast show host, topped the list, having earned between £745,000 and £749,999 in the 2025-26 financial year before his dismissal at the end of March. Greg James, who presents the Radio 1 breakfast show, earned between £440,000 and £444,999 in the same period. Stephen Nolan received between £425,000 and £429,999 for presenting The Nolan Show on Radio Ulster, Nolan Live on BBC One (Northern Ireland), and The Stephen Nolan Show on 5 Live.
The list includes only presenters earning more than £178,000 during the 2025-26 financial year. Laura Kuenssberg earned between £405,000 and £409,999 for Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, Newscast podcast, and other work. Vernon Kay received between £405,000 and £409,999 for presenting Radio 2's mid-morning show. Alan Shearer, who presents Match of the Day coverage, earned between £390,000 and £394,999. Several prominent television personalities do not appear on the list because their programmes are produced by BBC Studios or independent production companies, and therefore fall outside the BBC's salary disclosure requirements.
The BBC publishes the salary bands annually as part of its public accounts. Multiple presenters recorded salary increases year-on-year, including Greg James, Laura Kuenssberg and Vernon Kay. Alan Shearer's recorded salary decreased compared with the previous financial year.
