BRYCE HARPER DENIES KNOWLEDGE OF FANDUEL USE IN CAMEO VIDEO

TUE 14 JUL 2026

Bryce Harper stated that he did not know a personalised video he recorded would be used for gambling promotion by FanDuel. Harper, a two-time National League MVP, said in a statement that he joined Cameo to engage with fans through paid personalised videos. He said that in November 2024, someone identifying themselves as "Bryttanni" submitted an order for a holiday video intended for Terry Thompson, a FanDuel VIP customer. Harper said he read a short script provided with the request in good faith, believing it was a personal holiday message.

Harper said that FanDuel subsequently added its own logo to the video and used it as a gambling promotion without his knowledge or consent. He stated that Cameo had a separate category for business video requests, and he did not know at the time that the video would be used for commercial purposes. Harper said he had no affiliation with FanDuel and no awareness of any partnership between Cameo and the betting company. He said he would not have made the video had he known FanDuel's intended use or anything about Thompson's situation.

The controversy emerged after the Philadelphia Phillies faced backlash over the video's use in promoting gambling services. Harper's statement was issued on Monday as he addressed the situation publicly. The case has become linked to a broader gambling lawsuit involving FanDuel and its practices regarding customer engagement.
