CAROL VORDERMAN HOSPITALISED AFTER HEAD INJURY FROM FALL
Carol Vorderman was hospitalised after striking her head on a tarmac path in late May following a fall near her home. The former Countdown presenter tripped over a tree root on a public footpath and lost consciousness, according to her account. An ambulance transported her to Bristol Royal Infirmary, where she was discharged the following day, though she returned to hospital shortly afterwards after experiencing severe vomiting.
Vorderman remained at the hospital's accident and emergency department for CT scans and further assessment. She subsequently developed extensive bruising to her face that persisted for three to four weeks. After two to three weeks, she began experiencing dizziness, which she described as feeling like walking on a moving ship and experiencing room-spinning sensations when lying down.
The former I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! participant received treatment called the Epley technique to address the dizziness, a method she explained targets the inner ear and addresses displacement of crystals in that area. The physical therapy involved being held upright on a bed before being moved back by a therapist. Vorderman attributed her recent social media absence in June to the recovery period following the accident and hospitalisation.
