EVERTON CAPTAIN FINNIGAN SIGNS ONE-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION
Megan Finnigan has signed a one-year contract extension with Everton Women's Super League club. The extension means Finnigan will complete 20 years at the club, including her time spent in the academy. Finnigan spent the previous season absent owing to an anterior cruciate ligament injury but stated she is "feeling positive" about her recovery and return to play.
Finnigan made her senior debut for Everton in 2015 and has made more than 200 appearances for the club. She plays as a centre-back and holds the captain's position. In a statement, Finnigan said she had been training during the off-season to prepare for her return to competition and described the prospect of marking 20 years at the club whilst making her comeback as "special".
Finnigan stated she was pleased to have resolved her contract situation and indicated confidence in her recovery progress. She expressed hope that her 20th year at Everton would prove significant because it would mark her return to competitive football following her injury absence.
