MICROSOFT ROLLS OUT COPILOT PC INSIGHTS SKILL FOR WINDOWS
Microsoft has begun rolling out a new feature called PC Insights to its Copilot Windows application. The skill allows users to ask Copilot questions about their Windows system, hardware, software and settings, with the AI analysing the user's environment to provide answers. According to Microsoft, the feature aims to help users locate information without manually searching through system settings themselves.
Users can pose queries to Copilot about their PC configuration, including battery health, BIOS version, CPU usage, network adapters, storage capacity and printer connectivity. When a user asks a question, Copilot requests permission to access the necessary system resources and information before providing its response. The feature is currently rolling out to the Copilot Windows app and was described in a Microsoft support article.
The new capability has received some scepticism from observers, according to reports. Microsoft's development of the PC Insights skill represents part of the company's broader strategy to integrate AI assistance into its Windows operating system and help users troubleshoot problems or locate specific settings more efficiently than traditional methods.
