HERITAGE LIVE CANCELS THREE SUMMER FESTIVALS ON COUNTRY ESTATES

MON 13 JUL 2026

GCE Live has cancelled three Heritage Live festivals scheduled for summer 2024 on historical country estates, citing financial difficulties and insufficient ticket sales. The festivals were due to take place at Sandringham in Norfolk in August, Audley End Estate in Essex in August, and Englefield Estate in Berkshire in July. Announced performers included Christina Aguilera, Eric Clapton and Lionel Richie at Sandringham; Scissor Sisters at Audley End; and Richard Ashcroft at Englefield. The organiser stated that a planned financial rescue package had failed to materialise, making continuation impossible.

GCE Live attributed the cancellations to increased competition in the festival market and rising operational costs. The company said that large multinational promoters had driven up fees for suppliers, artists and staff. The organiser also cited the cost of living crisis and broader financial uncertainty as factors depressing ticket sales below historical averages across the cancelled events. The festivals had operated for ten years, previously hosting performances from The Who, Tom Jones and Van Morrison.

GCE Live instructed its ticket agents to offer refunds within a reasonable timeframe. Giles Cooper, who chairs the company, also serves as chairman of the Royal Variety Charity and produces the annual Royal Variety Performance. The cancellations mark a significant setback for the independent promoter's summer schedule.
