SARACENS SIGN TONGAN CENTRE VA'ENUKU FROM AMPTHILL
Saracens have signed centre Sione Va'enuku from Ampthill on his first professional contract. Va'enuku, who plays for Tonga, joined Ampthill midway through the 2024-25 season following a trial at Northampton Saints. The 26-year-old began his rugby career in the league code with Sydney Roosters before switching to union when he relocated to the United Kingdom.
Va'enuku stated that he was "honoured to join such a historic club" and expressed enthusiasm about the move. He said he looked forward to learning from Saracens' coaching staff and squad members, particularly those in the backs division. Va'enuku indicated his intention to develop further within the club's environment.
Saracens completed the previous Premiership season in fifth place. The signing represents the club's addition to their squad for the current campaign. Va'enuku's move to a full professional arrangement marks a significant step in his rugby union career following his transition from league.
