SPAIN WIN UEFA MEN'S UNDER-19 CHAMPIONSHIP WITH 2-0 VICTORY OVER GERMANY

Spain secured the Uefa Men's Under-19 Championship for the 10th time, defeating Germany 2-0 at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground. Hugo Lopez and Mario Rivas scored the goals that gave Spain the title. The victory meant Spain retained the trophy they won in 2024.

Spain's manager Paco Gallardo's side scored 19 goals across five matches without conceding during the eight-team tournament held over two weeks in north Wales. Lopez opened the scoring just before half-time with a close-range finish after an earlier attempt hit the crossbar. Rivas added Spain's second goal three minutes into the second half, heading in from a corner by Daniel Yanez. Germany's Otto Stange created opportunities but was denied by Spain's goalkeeper Manu Gonzalez.

Spain's men's victory followed their women's team winning the corresponding Uefa Under-19 Championship final against Germany in Bosnia-Herzegovina on the same day. Spain, Germany, Ukraine and Croatia have already qualified for the 2027 Fifa U20 World Cup in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan as finalists and semi-finalists. Denmark secured qualification for the inter-confederation play-offs after beating Italy on penalties earlier in the tournament week.
