HENRY POLLOCK SCORES HAT-TRICK IN ENGLAND'S 73-8 WIN OVER FIJI

SAT 11 JUL 2026 RUGBY

Henry Pollock scored three tries as England defeated Fiji 73-8 in rugby union. Pollock's hat-trick came in rapid succession, with his third try arriving in the closing stages of the match. Former England wing Chris Ashton, commentating for BBC Radio 5 Live, predicted the hat-trick before it occurred. Pollock celebrated his third try with an outstretched-arms gesture.

Pollock's first try came from a sharp inside pass by George Ford, demonstrating the speed and positioning that has become characteristic of his play. His second try saw him evade Fiji's Salesi Rayasi through the centre of the field. The third came after he beat Jiuta Wainiqolo to a grubber kick by Ben Earl. At 21 years old, Pollock has recorded a try every 56 minutes across his Test appearances. Beyond his try-scoring ability, he contributes significantly in ball-carrying, tackling and breakdown accuracy for Northampton.

England head coach Steve Borthwick must now determine how to best utilise Pollock's capabilities. Pollock has made 12 England appearances, but started only once—against Ireland in this year's Six Nations, a match England lost. His consistently high try-scoring rate continues to raise questions about whether he should feature in the starting lineup more regularly. Pollock's performances for Northampton during their Premiership title run have further demonstrated his effectiveness at club level.
