POSTON LEADS MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT AFTER DAY TWO

J.J. Poston holds the lead at the Memorial Tournament after the second round, with world number one Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy both posting disappointing scores. Poston moved to the top of the leaderboard as the two marquee players failed to keep pace with the field. Scheffler and McIlroy, widely considered the form players heading into the event, dropped back from contention. The day's scoring left Poston as the clear frontrunner heading into the weekend.

The Memorial Tournament is held at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, and is one of the most prestigious events on the PGA Tour outside the four majors. Scheffler entered the week as the defending FedEx Cup points leader and in strong form across the season. McIlroy has been among the consistent performers on tour in recent months. Both players struggled to generate the scoring opportunities needed at a course that typically rewards precision off the tee and on approach.

Poston will carry the lead into the third round, with the tournament field now reduced for the weekend. Scheffler and McIlroy face the task of making significant ground on the leaderboard if they are to challenge for the title. The final two rounds will determine whether Poston can maintain his position against the remainder of the field. The Memorial Tournament winner receives full PGA Tour points and an automatic invitation to future major championships.
