BRENTFORD SIGN CALLUM WILSON ON 12-MONTH DEAL
Brentford Football Club has signed striker Callum Wilson on a 12-month contract as a free agent. Wilson departed West Ham United following the club's relegation from the Premier League. The signing follows Brentford's earlier acquisition of Jaidon Anthony from Burnley this week.
Keith Andrews, Brentford's manager, described Wilson as a "really good signing" with the ability to score goals and valuable experience to offer the squad. Wilson brings substantial Premier League experience from his time at West Ham United, Newcastle United and Bournemouth. He earned nine England caps between 2018 and 2023, scoring twice and appearing at the 2022 World Cup. Last season at West Ham, he scored seven goals across 32 appearances.
Wilson's arrival provides additional attacking options alongside Brazil international Igor Thiago, whom Brentford state is not for sale despite reported summer offers of £80 million to £90 million. Andrews noted that Wilson's experience will benefit fellow attackers Igor Thiago and Kaye Furo. Wilson had also been linked with a move to Coventry City, his boyhood club, which secured promotion to the Premier League after winning the Championship last season.
