WED 08 JUL 2026 TRANSPORT

British Airways cancelled flight BA254 from Barbados to London on Sunday after crew members were alleged to have consumed alcohol at a hotel hours before departure. The flight, scheduled to depart Bridgetown at 4.25pm local time and arrive at London Heathrow at 6.15am the following day, affected up to 336 passengers. According to reports, several BA crew members have been suspended whilst an investigation is conducted. The Press Association reported that a number of crew members were involved in a drinking session at an all-inclusive hotel before the scheduled flight.

Reports stated that crew members consumed vodka and beer at the hotel, with one female cabin crew member reported to have vomited and a male colleague reported to have collapsed. The hotel, described as an ocean-front resort popular with honeymooners, was not named in reports. Other guests at the hotel reportedly filmed the crew members, with one allegedly stating: "We're British Airways crew, what of it?" The incident took place approximately hours before the crew were due to operate the transatlantic service.

A British Airways spokesperson stated: "We expect the highest standards of our crew, and we are urgently investigating this matter." The airline has not released further details regarding the investigation's scope or timeline. No statement has been issued regarding whether affected passengers received compensation or were rebooked on alternative services.
