ROYALS SCORE IN EVERY INNING TO DEFEAT PHILLIES 15-1
The Kansas City Royals defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 15-1 on Monday at Kauffman Stadium, completing their three-game series with a dominant offensive performance. The Royals scored at least one run in all eight innings they batted, producing 15 runs on 22 hits. According to MLB.com's Sarah Langs, the Royals became the first team in Major League Baseball to accomplish this feat since the Chicago White Sox in 2016.
Christopher Sanchez, the Phillies' starting pitcher, surrendered nine runs, with six scoring in the opening inning. Luke Maile hit a three-run home run in the first inning—his first at-bat of the season—to give Kansas City an immediate 6-1 lead. Salvador Perez added a solo home run in the second inning, his 314th career home run. Tyler Tolbert recorded five hits in the game, a career-first and the first time a Royals player achieved this since 2022. Jac Caglianone contributed an RBI single in each of the final two innings.
The Royals extended their consecutive-innings scoring streak to nine innings, dating back to Sunday's 5-2 victory over the Phillies. This streak marks the longest in franchise history, surpassing the previous record set in 1998. The Phillies managed a single run in the first inning when Alec Bohm hit an RBI double, but failed to score in subsequent innings despite placing at least one baserunner in each frame.
