MON 06 JUL 2026 COMPANIES

Lockheed Martin Corp. agreed to acquire Ultra Maritime, a naval defence business, from private equity firm Advent International for $3.45 billion. The transaction reflects increased demand for sea-based weapons systems, according to Lockheed Martin's announcement. Ultra Maritime specialises in anti-submarine technology. The acquisition is expected to strengthen Lockheed Martin's position in naval defence capabilities.

Ultra Maritime develops systems and solutions for maritime security and naval operations. The business has established capabilities in anti-submarine warfare, a sector identified as strategically significant for modern naval forces. Advent International acquired the business as part of its defence and aerospace investment portfolio. The sale represents a substantial transaction within the defence sector's consolidation activity.

Lockheed Martin stated the acquisition will enhance its naval defence offerings as geopolitical competition drives investment in maritime capabilities. The deal is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Lockheed Martin, one of the world's largest defence contractors, operates across space, missiles, fire control and rotating wing aircraft sectors. Ultra Maritime will operate as part of Lockheed Martin's Missiles and Fire Control business unit following completion of the transaction.
