ADAM LYTH HITS 131 AS YORKSHIRE BEATS LEICESTERSHIRE IN BLAST
Adam Lyth struck an undefeated 131 from 63 deliveries in Yorkshire's 41-run victory over Leicestershire Foxes at Headingley in the Vitality Blast. Lyth's innings represented the highest individual score recorded in this year's tournament and his second T20 hundred of his career. Yorkshire posted 207 for four wickets, with Lyth's 24-run contribution from Josh Hull's final over proving decisive. Leicestershire reached 166 for nine in response, finishing short of their target despite Ben Cox's 47 from 34 balls.
Lyth and Jonny Bairstow opened with a partnership worth 91 runs before England leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed dismissed Bairstow leg before wicket and claimed three wickets overall for 33 runs. Leicestershire's chase began aggressively when Rishi Patel scored 34 from 14 balls but collapsed after shedding four wickets for nine runs. AJ Tye took four wickets for 15 runs whilst Hassan Ali finished with four for 25 to secure Yorkshire's victory. The result keeps Yorkshire second in the North Group, one point behind Notts Outlaws, who recorded their sixth consecutive win by defeating Durham by two runs at Chester-le-Street.
Yorkshire remain on course for a quarter-final place within their group structure. Notts had reached 88 for one before losing momentum, with Durham spinner Callum Parkinson and bowler Matthew Potts combining to restrict them to 166 for eight. Durham's Potts finished with three wickets for 32 runs. The North Group standings remain competitive with three rounds of fixtures anticipated to determine final qualification positions.
