SUN 05 JUL 2026 GOLF

Stewart Cink holds a one-shot lead over Pádraig Harrington entering the final round of the U.S. Senior Open Championship. The tournament is being held at Scioto Country Club. A field of 156 golfers started the competition, with 60 advancing past the cut to compete for the total purse of $4,000,000. George McNeill also remains in contention near the top of the leaderboard.

The winner of the 2026 U.S. Senior Open will receive $800,000, according to the prize money distribution. The second-place finisher receives $432,000, whilst the third-place finisher earns $255,061. Prize money decreases incrementally through the field, with the 60th-place finisher receiving $7,670. The total purse has remained flat at $4,000,000 since 2017, although the distribution was adjusted in 2024 to allocate a larger share to the winner and other top finishers.

Beyond the monetary prize, the champion will earn 800,000 Charles Schwab Cup points toward the season-long standings, providing a significant advantage in the race towards the playoffs. All players who make the cut also earn Charles Schwab Cup points. At the conclusion of the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, the overall season-long winner receives additional money from a bonus pool worth $2.1 million. Harrington won the U.S. Senior Open in both 2022 and 2025.
