GARY BARLOW SAYS CIRCUS TOUR WILL NOT RETURN
Gary Barlow has announced that Take That's Circus Live tour will not continue beyond its recent conclusion. The 17-date tour ended yesterday in Dublin. Writing on X, Barlow stated: "I just can't see a way I could physically do this show again. So, it's with an extremely heavy heart that I leave The Circus in my past."
Barlow noted the physical demands of the production have intensified with age. He performed the original Circus show in 2009 at age 38 and has now completed the revival at 55. The tour featured dancers, trapeze artists, clowns, tightrope walkers, roller skaters and a unicycle stunt involving band members. The 2009 tour was seen by over a million people. The day before his announcement, Barlow described the recent tour as Take That's "greatest ever tour" and "best tour ever – to say that 35 years into our career is saying something."
Take That was founded in Manchester in 1990 with an original line-up including Jason Orange and Robbie Williams. Circus Live represented the group's seventh concert tour. Fans responded positively to Barlow's announcement, with some expressing gratitude that the revival allowed new generations to experience the show. Barlow indicated the band will move towards "our next exciting, brand new show."
