POLICE INVESTIGATE YES SCOTLAND MISSING FUNDS CLAIM
Police have launched an investigation into claims that £1.5m raised by Yes Scotland remains unaccounted for. Yes Scotland was the campaign group that advocated for Scottish independence during the 2014 referendum. The organisation has faced scrutiny over the whereabouts of funds it collected during its campaign activities.
The investigation centres on allegations that money donated to Yes Scotland cannot be traced or accounted for in the group's records. Yes Scotland operated as the official umbrella campaign for the independence referendum, which took place in September 2014. The group subsequently wound down following the vote, which resulted in Scotland remaining part of the United Kingdom.
Police have opened a formal inquiry into the matter, treating the missing funds as a subject requiring criminal investigation. The case has drawn attention to governance and financial transparency practices within campaign organisations in Scotland. No charges have been reported at this stage of the investigation.
