MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO £9,000 PIP FRAUD AFTER MOTORBIKE VIDEO

FRI 03 JUL 2026 CRIME

Tony Rose pleaded guilty to fraudulently claiming almost £9,000 in Personal Independence Payments (PIP). Rose had stated in his claim that he required assistance with washing, cleaning, cooking and dressing. The Department for Work and Pensions obtained footage of Rose riding a motorbike, according to reports.

Rose's claim for PIP support came after he asserted he could not walk 20 metres. The footage contradicted the mobility limitations he had declared in his application. Rose is 32 years old.

The case resulted in a guilty plea from Rose. Reports indicate he avoided a custodial sentence, though the specific outcome of sentencing proceedings was not detailed in available accounts. The case highlights the use of surveillance evidence by the DWP in investigating benefit fraud claims.
