JOHN TERRY CRITICISES THOMAS TUCHEL OVER TREATMENT OF DJED SPENCE
John Terry has criticised England manager Thomas Tuchel for singling out Tottenham right-back Djed Spence during matches. The former Chelsea and England captain stated he is worried by Tuchel's approach towards the player. Terry's comments follow instances in which Tuchel addressed Spence on the touchline during England fixtures.
Terry expressed concern that Tuchel treats less established players differently from established squad members. According to Terry's account, Tuchel has subjected Spence to public criticism whilst continuing to select him for England duties. Terry suggested this approach represents inconsistent management towards players at different stages of their careers. The former defender indicated that Tuchel would not employ the same tactics with more senior squad members.
Tuchel took charge of England's national team in November 2024 following Gareth Southgate's departure. Spence has represented England at international level and currently plays for Tottenham in the Premier League. Terry's criticism adds to broader discussion surrounding Tuchel's management style and communication with players during his early months in the role.
