FORMER JOHN LEWIS BOSS LAUNCHES TASKFORCE ON WORKPLACE SICKNESS
A former John Lewis chief executive has established a taskforce focused on tackling workplace sickness across the United Kingdom. The 'Get Britain Working' initiative has secured backing from more than 250 of the country's largest employers. According to the taskforce organiser, addressing sickness absence represents an opportunity to unlock hidden economic growth.
The taskforce brings together major employers to examine patterns of workplace absence and develop strategies to reduce it. Participants have committed to sharing data and best practices across their organisations. The initiative focuses on understanding the causes of sickness absence and implementing measures to support worker health and attendance.
The taskforce operates at a time when UK businesses report ongoing concerns about productivity and workforce participation. Employers participating in the scheme have signalled commitment to identifying and addressing barriers to attendance. The taskforce will continue to recruit additional employers and publish findings from its analysis of workplace sickness patterns.
