FORMER G4S GUARD OBTAINS £117,000 FROM BANK IN UNIFORM DECEPTION

FRI 03 JUL 2026

Kwabena Kissi, a former security guard, obtained £117,000 from a Santander bank in Brixton, south London, by wearing his old G4S uniform and carrying a security briefcase. Court footage shows Kissi entering the bank on 5 July 2022. Staff at the branch handed him bags of cash after he deceived them about his identity and purpose. Kissi subsequently travelled to Ghana.

The deception exploited the uniform and briefcase associated with G4S, a security company. Kissi's appearance as an official security operative led bank employees to comply with his request without verifying his credentials or authorisation to collect cash. The method relied on the visual markers of legitimate security work to bypass standard safeguards. Court proceedings examined the footage as evidence of how the deception was executed.

The case demonstrates a vulnerability in cash-handling procedures at banking facilities. Kissi's actions resulted in criminal proceedings, with court footage used to establish what occurred. The incident prompted examination of how financial institutions verify the identity of persons collecting large sums of cash, regardless of their appearance or uniform.
