LADY LOUISE WINDSOR GRADUATES FROM ST ANDREWS UNIVERSITY
Lady Louise Windsor has graduated from the University of St Andrews after completing a degree in English and international relations. The 22-year-old, youngest granddaughter of the late Queen, completed four years of study at the Scottish university and participated in a graduation ceremony today. Two photographs have been released showing her in graduation robes holding her degree certificate, and a second image with her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. During the ceremony, she took part in the university's traditional capping ritual, observed by her parents.
Lady Louise follows in the footsteps of the Prince and Princess of Wales, who are also graduates of St Andrews University. She plans to take a gap year involving work, volunteering and travel, according to reports. Tomorrow, she will receive her Duke of Edinburgh's gold award from her father at a special celebration at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, alongside hundreds of other young people. The award ceremony coincides with the 70th anniversary year of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme, which was founded by her late grandfather Prince Philip.
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme was established 70 years ago and has been supported by Prince Edward for 40 years. Lady Louise was born prematurely in November 2003. Her achievement at St Andrews marks a significant milestone for the royal family, as several prominent members have studied at the institution.
