JORDAN AND SILVER FAIL TO END OAKLEY-DOLAN KNICKS FEUD

FRI 05 JUN 2026 US SPORTS

A long-running dispute between New York Knicks owner James Dolan and former Knicks player Charles Oakley has continued despite intervention attempts by Michael Jordan and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. The feud has persisted into the Knicks' current NBA Finals run. Both Jordan and Silver made separate efforts to broker peace between the two parties. Those efforts did not produce a resolution.

The conflict between Oakley and Dolan has been a fixture in Knicks news for years. Oakley was removed from Madison Square Garden by security personnel during a 2017 game, an incident that drew widespread attention. Dolan and Oakley have traded public accusations in the time since. Jordan, a close associate of Oakley from their playing days, personally attempted to mediate the situation.

The feud now carries additional visibility as the Knicks compete in the NBA Finals, placing the organisation under heightened public scrutiny. Silver's involvement marks a notable escalation, as the commissioner's office does not typically intervene in disputes between owners and former players. Oakley has not been welcomed back into the Knicks organisation in an official capacity. No agreement between Dolan and Oakley has been announced.
