NARA SMITH ANNOUNCES TWO-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER'S CANCER DIAGNOSIS

THU 02 JUL 2026 DISEASE

Nara Smith, a South African influencer and content creator, has disclosed that her two-year-old daughter Whimsy was diagnosed with cancer in late 2023. Smith, 24, said the family noticed something suspicious and initially attended an emergency room, where medical staff were uncertain of the diagnosis. The pediatrician later recommended they attend a children's hospital, where tests including X-rays, ultrasounds and a biopsy confirmed cancer and revealed the condition had spread. Smith stated that Whimsy began chemotherapy treatment immediately following the diagnosis.

Smith shares Whimsy with her husband Lucky Blue Smith, 28, alongside three other children: Rumble Honey, five; Slim Easy, four; and Fawnie Golden, born in September. Lucky Blue Smith also has an eight-year-old daughter, Gravity, from a previous relationship. The couple have been married since 2020. Smith rose to prominence in late 2023 for creating elaborate cooking videos shared across TikTok and Instagram. She did not disclose the specific type of cancer Whimsy has or details of her current health status.

Smith said she has connected with other parents and families at the hospital and accessed online forums for families navigating similar situations, which she described as providing comfort and reducing feelings of isolation. She acknowledged that balancing hospital visits, caring for her other children, recovery from recent childbirth and work commitments has been challenging, which explains her reduced posting frequency on social media. Smith said some days managing these responsibilities felt easier than others, and she aims to do her best across all areas of her life.
