NATHAN MCSWEENEY SIGNS NEW NORTHAMPTONSHIRE CONTRACT FOR 2027

Nathan McSweeney, an Australia Test batter, has signed a new contract to play for Northamptonshire in the 2027 season. McSweeney has played three Test matches for Australia. In his first year with Northants, he has scored three County Championship centuries and is the county's leading run-scorer this summer with 589 runs at an average of just under 50. McSweeney will captain Northamptonshire in this summer's One-Day Cup.

McSweeney has contributed significantly to Northamptonshire's T20 Blast campaign. He scored an unbeaten 72 in Wednesday's eight-wicket win at Gloucestershire, a result that saw the Steelbacks top the Central & West Group. According to McSweeney, he is grateful for the faith the club has shown in him. He stated that he is looking forward to continuing to contribute both on and off the field.

McSweeney expressed his excitement about the club's future prospects. He said he hopes there are plenty of successful moments ahead for Northamptonshire and that he is excited to be part of that journey. The contract extension secures his availability for the county beyond the current season.
