CELTICS TRADE 2024 NBA FINALS MVP BROWN TO 76ERS

The Boston Celtics have traded Jaylen Brown, the 2024 NBA finals MVP, to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Paul George, two first-round draft picks and two second-round picks. ESPN first reported the agreement, which the Boston Globe later confirmed. The deal concludes Brown's ten-season tenure with Boston, during which he made five All-Star appearances.

Brown had expressed dissatisfaction with his treatment by the Celtics, particularly after the franchise included him in trade discussions with Milwaukee regarding Giannis Antetokounmpo. The trade separates Brown from Jayson Tatum, his long-time teammate and partner in the Celtics' 2024 championship run. During the most recent season, Brown recorded career-best averages of 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. Since entering the league ten years ago, Brown has featured in more combined regular-season and playoff wins than any other NBA player, with the Celtics recording 523 victories during his time with the franchise.

Brown will join the 76ers alongside guard Tyrese Maxey and centre Joel Embiid. The trade represents one of several major roster changes across the NBA in recent weeks, following moves involving Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard, Brandon Ingram and Ja Morant. Philadelphia intends to strengthen its roster with the addition of Brown to compete in the Eastern Conference.
