ANTHROPIC LAUNCHES CLAUDE SCIENCE APP FOR RESEARCHERS

WED 01 JUL 2026 AI

Anthropic has unveiled Claude Science, described as an AI workbench for scientists, now available in beta through Claude Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. The application integrates tools, resources, file formats and databases commonly used in research into a single environment. According to Anthropic, the offering aims to reduce tedious procedural aspects of scientific work by consolidating fragmented systems that researchers typically navigate separately.

Claude Science can analyse literature, execute multi-step research projects, and produce detailed scientific artifacts including 3D protein structures, genome browser tracks and chemical structures, according to the company. The application generates plain-language descriptions of how figures were created to support validation, record-keeping and reproduction. Anthropic stated the app handles planning and resource allocation for large-scale analyses, automating decisions about monitoring and computing capacity that would otherwise require manual researcher intervention.

The system incorporates a reviewer agent that inspects outputs during pipeline execution, flagging incorrect citations, untraceable numbers and figures that do not match underlying code, with self-correction capabilities, according to Anthropic's account. The application can synthesise answers to user questions by consulting customised databases and trusted sources of scientific information. Anthropic also announced Claude Sonnet 5, characterised as offering stronger capabilities for agent-based tasks at lower pricing than existing models.
