UK HOUSE PRICES STALL FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE MONTH

WED 01 JUL 2026

UK house prices stalled for a second consecutive month in June, according to data from Nationwide. The average price of a typical home edged down to £277,484 last month. Rising interest rates, which Nationwide attributed to the war in Iran, have triggered a reduction in homebuyer demand. Housebuilder shares fell during the period.

Estate agents have warned of a summer slump in the housing market. The stalling of price growth comes after a similar pause in May, indicating a broader slowdown in momentum. Nationwide's figures suggest the typical home price remained little changed from the previous month.

The housing market's performance in coming months will depend on interest rate movements and homebuyer confidence. Market participants are monitoring whether the current pause in price growth represents a temporary interruption or signals a longer-term shift in demand. Nationwide continues to publish monthly house price data as a key indicator of the UK property sector's health.
