MCFLY STARS QUIT VOICE UK COACHING ROLE
Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher have quit their joint coaching position on The Voice UK after two series, according to reports. The McFly bandmates worked together to select mentees on the two most recent iterations of ITV's talent competition, with their latest appearance yet to be broadcast. A source stated that whilst ITV bosses had hoped to retain the pair for the 15th series, scheduling conflicts made their return impossible. Tom Fletcher's commitments include work on bringing Paddington: The Musical to New York from London's West End, whilst both musicians are writing McFly's eighth album together.
The departure leaves ITV searching for replacement coaches ahead of the 14th series, scheduled to air this autumn. The current coaching line-up also includes will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and Kelly Rowland, the latter joining as a newcomer. The broadcaster has not yet commented on the McFly stars' exit. A separate question marks the future of show host Emma Willis, who has presented The Voice UK since 2014 but is set to join the presenting team for the newly revived Strictly Come Dancing when filming begins this autumn.
ITV has not confirmed whether Emma Willis will require replacement as host or disclosed a timeline for announcing new coaching appointments. The Voice UK has previously produced acts with chart impact, though the show has not matched the audience reach ITV achieved with earlier competitions Pop Idol and The X Factor.
