FRANK LAMPARD SIGNS NEW COVENTRY CITY CONTRACT UNTIL 2029
Frank Lampard has agreed a new contract with Coventry City that runs until 2029. The manager, aged 48, led the Sky Blues to the Championship title last season, securing promotion to the Premier League. His previous arrangement was set to conclude at the end of the forthcoming season, and the club had received enquiries from other organisations including Fulham during the summer transfer window.
Lampard took charge of Coventry in November 2024 when the team sat 17th in the Championship, two points above the relegation zone. He oversaw 16 victories in the remaining 29 matches of that campaign, guiding the club to fifth place and the play-offs, though they lost to Sunderland in the semi-finals. In the subsequent season, Lampard secured the Championship title with 28 league victories—a record for Coventry in a single season—ending a 25-year absence from the top flight.
Coventry will begin their Premier League campaign against champions Arsenal on 21 August. Lampard stated that consolidating the promotion and recharging before the new season were priorities, alongside preparation work required both on and off the pitch. The former Chelsea and England midfielder has previously managed Derby County, Chelsea on two occasions, and Everton before joining Coventry.
