EUROSTAR SERVICES TO NETHERLANDS CANCELLED AFTER ROTTERDAM FIRE
Eurostar has cancelled all direct train services between London and the Netherlands following a fire in a cable duct near Rotterdam Central station on Monday. The fire caused a major power outage and halted rail services in the area. The company stated that direct trains will not resume until at least Friday, and advised passengers to postpone or cancel travel plans where possible. Eurostar confirmed that exchanges can be made without charge and full refunds are available to affected customers.
All Amsterdam and Rotterdam stops have been removed from Eurostar's schedule, with trains on the route now operating between London and Brussels only. A limited number of services will run between France and Amsterdam using an alternative route that avoids the damaged area, though these journeys will take significantly longer and have reduced seat availability. The UK Foreign Office has updated its travel advice for the Netherlands, warning passengers not to attempt travel to or from the country on Eurostar until 3 July 2026. Services between London St Pancras and Paris Gare du Nord remain unaffected, though some delays are anticipated.
Passengers booked to travel on 30 June, 1 or 2 July can exchange their booking without charge, cancel and receive an e-voucher valid for 12 months, or cancel for a full refund. Eurostar specified that customers have three months from their original travel date to claim their preferred option. Travellers are advised to check with their booking operator before attempting to travel between the UK and the Netherlands.
