METALLICA DONATES £20,000 TO CARDIFF FOODBANK

MON 29 JUN 2026

Metallica has donated £20,000 to Cardiff Foodbank through the band's charitable foundation, All Within My Hands. The donation will fund approximately 9,000 meals for people in need. The American rock band made the contribution ahead of their performance at the Principality Stadium on Sunday evening. Rachel Biggs, chief executive of Cardiff Foodbank, said the foundation initially contacted the charity by email to confirm the donation was genuine.

Cardiff Foodbank supports 20,000 people annually across eight centres in the city, alongside a mobile service. One third of those assisted last year were children. Two weeks prior to Metallica's donation, the foodbank had appealed for contributions on social media, stating the warehouse had reached historically low stock levels. The charity described the Metallica donation as their "largest celebrity donation" to date. Singer Taylor Swift previously donated to the same foodbank in 2024 following her performances at the Principality Stadium, enabling the purchase of one-and-a-half articulated lorries of food.

Rachel Biggs stated the charity's annual running costs total £700,000, with food donations down by 27 per cent whilst demand remained constant. She said the Metallica donation would allow the foodbank to place a bulk order and replenish stock. Metallica and its management established All Within My Hands in 2017 to distribute a portion of ticket sales revenue to local and national charities. Biggs noted that the high-profile donation helped raise awareness and mobilise both fans and the local community to support the foodbank.
