TSITSIPAS ENDS COACHING PARTNERSHIP WITH FATHER AHEAD OF WIMBLEDON

MON 29 JUN 2026 TENNIS

Stefanos Tsitsipas has ended his professional partnership with his father, Apostolos Tsitsipas, who had served as his coach throughout much of his career. The Greek tennis player made the announcement shortly before Wimbledon. Tsitsipas stated in an interview that the working relationship had become increasingly difficult as he matured, and that he believed a permanent separation was now necessary. He will be coached by Thomas Perrin, who works at Patrick Mouratoglou's academy in France, with Mouratoglou providing oversight.

Tsitsipas told the interviewer that the collaboration with his father had lost stability over time. "The older I get, the more difficult it is for me to maintain a stable relationship with my father," he said, noting that he and his father now required different things professionally. He added that he intended to make his own decisions moving forward without his father's involvement. Tsitsipas has trained at Mouratoglou's academy since the age of 15 and is already familiar with Perrin's coaching methods. Mouratoglou previously coached Serena Williams.

The split marks a significant change for Tsitsipas, who reached a career-high ranking of world No. 3. His decision to work with new coaching staff comes as he seeks to improve his performance on tour. Tsitsipas stated that he does not anticipate reuniting with his father professionally in the future, describing the situation as "all very sensitive" given the years they spent working together.
