NEWBORN FOUND DEAD IN PORTABLE TOILET AT MICHIGAN MUSIC FESTIVAL

A newborn infant was found dead in a portable restroom at the Electric Forest festival in Rothbury, Michigan on Sunday, according to Michigan State Police. The body was discovered in a toilet within the camping area by an attendee conducting maintenance. The festival was held at the Double JJ Ranch, approximately 60 miles northwest of Grand Rapids near Lake Michigan. Police stated their investigation remains ongoing but have not disclosed the child's age or identifying details.

Electric Forest is an annual four-day electronic dance music festival that hosts dozens of DJs and attracts tens of thousands of attendees each year. The body was found on the final day of the event. Michigan State Police appealed for public assistance, requesting that anyone in the area who observed unusual activity or possesses relevant information come forward via the state police's online reporting portal. Authorities stated the incident does not indicate a wider threat to the general public.

The festival organisers released a statement via Instagram expressing their sympathy. The statement read that the discovery caused them "so much pain" and that their headquarters was "heartbroken" about the event. The organisers encouraged anyone able to assist the police investigation to do so. This year marked the 14th annual Electric Forest festival, which began in 2008. Last year's event drew approximately 50,000 attendees.
