MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER AND TORTURE OVER BABY'S DEATH IN QUEENSLAND HOSPITAL

A 22-year-old man from Bundaberg West, now Kalkie, has been charged with murder and torture in connection with the death of a baby boy in Queensland. Queensland Police released a statement on Sunday, 28 June, announcing the charges following investigations that began more than two years ago. The man is expected to appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Monday, 29 June.

The baby was admitted to Bundaberg Hospital at 5:18pm on 24 February 2024 and was airlifted to Queensland Children's Hospital on 27 February. He died in hospital on 3 March 2024. Queensland Police have not identified the child. The charges relate to alleged incidents on 24 February 2024. Both charges are recorded as domestic violence offences.

The Bundaberg Child Protection and Investigation Unit conducted the investigation leading to the charges. Queensland Police stated that investigations remain ongoing.
