NOAH KAHAN PLEADS WITH FANS TO STOP STEALING ROAD SIGN FROM SONG

SAT 27 JUN 2026

Noah Kahan has asked supporters to cease removing the street sign referenced in his 2022 song "The View Between Villages." The folk-pop artist stated on Instagram that the Alger Brook Road sign in Strafford, Vermont has been repeatedly stolen, disrupting local residents. Kahan wrote that the thefts represent "a total disrespect" to people living on the road and create difficulties for the town.

Kahan's third studio album, Stick Season, features the final track mentioning Alger Brook Road, where he sings about returning to his New England hometown as an adult. The song includes the lyric: "Passed Alger Brook Road, I'm over the bridge. A minute from home, but I feel so far from it." Kahan stated he formerly lived on Alger Brook and expressed regret that naming the road in a song had apparently prompted fans to view it as an invitation to visit and remove the sign.

Kahan pledged to pay for any replacement signs and invited local officials to contact him or his mother to discuss solutions. He emphasised his commitment to protecting his family's privacy and the sanctuary of his hometown community. Under law, stealing street signs is typically classified as misdemeanour theft or destruction of public property.
