JORDAN BOS IMPRESSES IN SOCCEROOS DRAW WITH PARAGUAY

FRI 26 JUN 2026 FOOTBALL

Jordan Bos delivered a standout performance as Australia drew 0-0 with Paraguay in a World Cup group match near San Francisco. The left-back, deployed on the right side of the pitch, repeatedly broke through Paraguay's defence and created attacking opportunities throughout the second half. Goalkeeper Patrick Beach made several saves to preserve the draw as Paraguay, led by playmaker Julio Enciso, threatened in attack. The result kept Australia in contention for second place in Group D and a place in the World Cup knockout rounds.

Bos continued his attacking runs even after teammates Cristian Volpato and Nestory Irankunda were substituted off during the second half. His performance drew praise from several squad members and coaching staff. Captain Harry Souttar described him as "a special player" and noted his physical attributes. Substitute right winger Ajdin Hrustic observed that Bos demonstrated significant power throughout the match. Midfielder Aiden O'Neill received the player of the match award but acknowledged that Bos's display merited the recognition.

Coach Tony Popovic oversaw the match as Australia sought momentum following a previous defeat to the United States. The draw took place in front of approximately 12,000 Australian supporters. Bos's performance drew comparisons to Gareth Bale and Arjen Robben for his ability to create attacking threat down the flank. The result maintained Australia's path towards qualifying from the group stage.
