BUCKINGHAM PALACE RENOVATION COSTS £370M AS ROYAL FAMILY RELOCATES

THU 25 JUN 2026 ROYAL

The Royal Family will spend £370m on renovating Buckingham Palace, according to newly released financial documents disclosing details of their affairs. The King will not reside at the palace during or after the refurbishment programme. The scale of the project marks one of the largest undertaken on the royal residence in recent decades.

The renovation forms part of wider property management by the Royal Household. Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence of the monarch for nearly two centuries. The decision to proceed with the substantial investment reflects the assessed condition and maintenance requirements of the building, which the Royal Family disclosed in their latest accounts.

The King and Queen will remain based elsewhere whilst the work takes place. The refurbishment programme represents a significant commitment of royal resources to the upkeep of the estate. No confirmed timeline for completion of the project has been disclosed in the released documents.
