ARSENAL IN TALKS WITH BRUNO GUIMARAES' REPRESENTATIVES

THU 25 JUN 2026 FOOTBALL

Arsenal have opened discussions with representatives of Bruno Guimaraes regarding a potential transfer from Newcastle United. Mikel Arteta is seeking to reinforce his squad in multiple positions, including right-back, central midfielder, winger and forward. Guimaraes, currently competing for Brazil at the World Cup, has surfaced as a transfer target, with his representatives understood to be assessing the market for the player. Newcastle are preparing for a formal approach from the Premier League champions.

Arsenal are also monitoring Sandro Tonali, the Newcastle and Italy midfielder, who was offered to them during the January transfer window. Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham have registered interest in Tonali. Tottenham submitted an £75 million offer for the player, which Newcastle rejected, and the north London club has made a second approach asking Newcastle to reconsider. Newcastle are reported to be seeking £100 million for Tonali, whilst reported valuations for Guimaraes have suggested approximately €80 million (£69 million) would be required to secure his departure. Newcastle have already lost Anthony Gordon this summer, with the player joining Barcelona.

Arsenal have also been linked with other midfield options during the transfer window. Lille's Ayyoub Bouaddi, currently representing Morocco at the World Cup, and Manu Kone of France have been identified as targets. Bournemouth's Alex Scott has also attracted interest from Arsenal. Guimaraes has not indicated a desire to depart Newcastle, though his name is acknowledged to be the subject of discussion at other clubs.
