ANTHROPIC HIRES FOR ASIA-PACIFIC DATA CENTRES
Anthropic is recruiting for 13 roles across its compute department, with eight positions based in Australia or Japan. The U.S.-based artificial intelligence company is seeking two roles in Japan—one focused on sourcing data centre deals and one for a data centre electrical engineer. Six open positions in Australia centre on data centre engineers and operators. The hiring drive reflects the company's efforts to expand AI infrastructure capacity in the Asia-Pacific region.
Anthropic stated in an April blog post that "growth at this pace places an inevitable strain on our infrastructure; our unprecedented consumer growth, in particular, has impacted reliability and performance." The company previously announced data centre deals in the United States during spring and was hiring for a compute capacity negotiation role in Europe in April. Australia and Japan represent emerging markets for Anthropic's data centre expansion, though the company identified copyright laws and power access as remaining challenges in these regions. Anthropic raised $65 billion in May at a valuation of $965 billion.
The hiring expansion underscores Anthropic's strategy to manage surging demand for its enterprise and consumer products through overseas infrastructure development. The company's Asia-Pacific recruitment follows its established pattern of securing compute capacity across multiple regions. Anthropic continues to expand despite reported tensions with the U.S. administration regarding use of its AI models.
