CHRISTINA RICCI CRITICISES FALLON FOR INTERVIEWING MCGREGOR

Actor Christina Ricci has publicly criticised host Jimmy Fallon for inviting mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor to appear on his late-night television programme. McGregor appeared on the show on 17 June to promote an upcoming UFC fight. The appearance prompted backlash on social media, with viewers directing criticism at Fallon and describing him as "spineless" and "pathetic".

The criticism relates to legal proceedings involving McGregor. In November, McGregor was ordered to pay approximately €250,000 (£208,000) in damages following a civil court case brought by Nikita Hand, who claimed he raped her in a hotel in December 2018. McGregor contested the allegation, stating the encounter was consensual. Following the court decision, McGregor was removed from a video game and his name was booed at a concert.

Ricci shared a post on Instagram Stories questioning why McGregor was being given a platform on the show and stating "Shame on you, Jimmy". Fallon has not publicly responded to the criticism or to McGregor's appearance. Some social media users speculated that Fallon had attempted to limit visibility of McGregor's visit, noting an absence of promotional posts about the interview on the host's official Instagram account.
